Stücke NSK (Novosibirsk)

With an invitation and a grant from the Goethe Institute, I had the opportunity in the fall of 2008 to work and live in the Siberian capital, Novosibirsk. The city with it’s population of 1.5 million is the third largest in Russia. It’s founding, a good 100 years ago, was coupled with the decision to build a bridge over the river Op. After wandering through the city for days I developed a sense for life there and out of this sense,  this series. It shows the contention between the emergence of a new lifestyle and the old Soviet spirit, which seems to “shimmer through” wherever one looks.
