<itunes:summary>Andreas Herzau is a german photographer and photojournalist, based in Hamburg, Germany.

As far I’m concerned the internet offers the ideal opportunity to combine film and photography in a meaningful way. Simultaneously, there lurks the danger that too little photography and too much film happens – or the other way around. Onscreen, a multi-media platform, allows me as a photographer to try out this new modern medium of “Photo film”.</itunes:summary>

<description>#03 JUST A MOMENT PLEASE! the pack -

100 seconds…to show a picture…to explain a picture…to get an entire story across.

One image without any comments. One image with the original soundtrack of the situation, where the picture was taken: at the red carpet of the "Goldene Kamera" in Berlin with actress Marie Bäumer.

<description>#02 JUST A MOMENT PLEASE! between neigbours -

100 seconds…to show a picture…to explain a picture…to get an entire story across.

Some words about one image from the project "Neighbourship" in an estate of town houses in Kaiserslautern, where I spent approximately 3 months.

 <description>#1 JUST A MOMENT PLEASE! nazis don´t kiss -

100 seconds…to show a picture…to explain a picture…to get an entire story across.

The film "nazis don´t kiss" is about a picture of nazis apart from the standard angry looking skinhead neonazis (english subtitled).

 <description>Stücke NSK - Nowosibirsk 2008

In 2008, with a stipendium from the Goethe Institute, I spent 4 weeks in Novosibirsk shooting pictures for an exhibition. I also recorded street sounds and conducted interviews. For the street sounds, I concentrated on what I considered to be the "typical" sounds of Novosibirsk. My interview, directed at randomn passers-by, consisted of one question, "What do you think people abroad think about Novosibirsk?" The Siberian techno and sound artist Sasha Boots created a sound track from the street sounds and interviews to underscore this multi-media essay.

<title>Warm anziehen war immer große Mode</title>
 <link>http://www.andreasherzau.de/onscreen/</link>
 <description>In search of global warming

In the East German State of Brandenburg the effects of the progressing climate change are noticeable ever so clearly. On behalf of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and in cooperation with Lukas Thiele I created a multimedia essay on the very subject. We went on an extended trip throughout the state, photographing the causes and symptoms of the climate change and consulting several witnesses to its noticeable effects.

<title>Ole von Beust speaks about being photographed</title>

<description>Picturing the first Major of Hamburg, Ole von Beust

After weeks of travelling with him and photographing him for this campaign 2008, I finally questioned him on the very subject: What it felt like being the centre of so much flash light attention. Here you will find his answers ...

 <title>skyscrapers</title>

 <description>The Geometry of the Vaportrail

For some the stripes in the sky are a sign of modernity and technological progress. For others they are a reminder of approaching airplanes that can bring death and destruction with them.

For me they evoke childhood memories of a time back in the 70s when we stood staring at the sky in wonder, fascinated by the sight of aircraft passing overhead.

 <title>Istanbul aint Constantinople</title>
 <link>http://www.andreasherzau.de/onscreen/</link>
<description>It was the weird discussion about whether or not to allow Turkey into the European Community that provoked me to find out more about the country. Istanbul, one of the few European mega cities, reveals a lot about what’s going on in Turkey today: the problems they are dealing with, the chances they have. Istanbul also lies right smack on the seam between Europe and Asia. One wanders in Istanbul between the old and the new, modern Turkey and Europe and Asia…back and forth. And since riding the ferry with workers from the Asian to the European side, it became clear to me that Istanbul is not comparable to any other city in this world.

Here you can find a multimedia essay with my comments, sounds and music from the Golden Horn...
