It is a love hate situation: riding the train. Departing. Arriving. One gets on a train and for a short while is transported through time and space. Life is shared with complete and total strangers. One observes the others, feels a sense of being randomly thrown together, but also simultaneously bonded. These essays are an attempt to capture the feelings which arise while gliding, rushing, arriving, being late…to give it a picture. The irony of fate: these photos were commissioned by the Deutsche Bahn AG.
