Since the fall of the dictator Doe in year 1990 Liberia has been sunk in chaos. A number of rebel groups have fought for dominance over the country and control over it’s resources. Approx. 150,000 people died in fights and massacres since that time. More than 80 percent of the population was forced to flee and became homeless. They fled to neighbouring countries i.e. Sierra Leone or sought protection in Liberia’s larger cities. The pictures show people who have become homeless in their own homeland and have sought to find shelter in the capitol Monrovia. This work was created in 1996 within the framework of my project about global refugees.
