During the early 90s and the beginnings of the German Reunification, the number of racist attacks on foreigners and refugees massively increased. Simultaneously, it was publically debated how many foreigners and refugees Germany could actually absorb. The former photographer’s alliance SIGMUN decided to create a project concerned with political refugium as an international phenomena. Our objective was to show that the “refugee problem” was not only a German problem, but a global one. The result was a large scale exhibition, shown throughout Europe and this book. The contributing photographers were: Michael Meyborg, Christian Jungeblodt, Clive Shirley, Russell Liebman and myself. The project was sponsored by twelve international aid organizations.
